Pizza Base Dough with APF & Yeast

This is a recipe to make Pizza Base Dough with APF & Yeast. You will need to make this dough before you go on to prepare your Pizza from scratch. Beside this you will also need to prepare the Pizza Sauce (click here). With the dough that you get from this recipe, you can make two 6 inch thin crust bases or one 12 inch medium crust base (click here for Pizza options).

Yield: For one 12 inch or two 6 inch Pizzas

Prep. Time: 20 to 25 Mins.

Proofing Time: 1 ½ to 2 Hours

Ingredients:

[ Standard Measure: 1 cup = 250 ml ]

  • Maida [APF] – 250 gms
  • Instant Yeast – ¾ tsp.
  • Sugar – 1 tsp.
  • Olive Oil – 1 tsp.
  • Salt – ¾ tsp.

Step 1:     Take ¼ cup of lukewarm water in a bowl and add the sugar and stir. Then add the yeast and leave aside for 10 minutes for it to froth.

Step 2:     Take the maida and the salt in you stand mixer bowl, put on the dough hook and run on low speed for 30 seconds to mix the salt with the maida.

Step 3:     Then add the yeast mixture and another ½ cup of lukewarm water and knead the dough in the stand mixer at a low speed for about 5 to 6 minutes (You can also knead by hand).

Step 4:     The add the oil and knead for another few minutes till a smooth dough is formed. Transfer to a bowl greased with oil. Cover with cling film or a wet towel and leave aside to proof for 1 ½ to 2 hours. The dough should rise and double.

Step 5:     Later, when the dough has risen, punch the dough with your knuckles as seen in the picture. Use the dough to make your favourite pizza (click here for options)

Note:

  • You can wrap the dough in cling film and keep in the refrigerator for use the next day.
