Chicken Chilly Fry Sandwich

This is a recipe for an easy to make Chicken Chilly Fry Sandwich. You just need some chicken breast, sandwich bread and a few common ingredients to make it. (For a No Knead Bread Loaf Recipe, click here)

Yield: 2 to 14 Pieces (generously filled)

Prep. Time: 10 Mins.

Cooking Time: 25 to 30 Mins.

Ingredients:

  • Bread Slices – 12 to 14
  • Chicken Breast (boneless) – 400 gms
  • Onion (finely chopped) – 3 medium
  • Garlic (crushed) – 3 cloves
  • Green Chillies (finely chopped) – 2
  • Green Corriander (finely chopped) – 2 tbsp.
  • Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder – ½ tsp.
  • Black Pepper Powder – ½ tsp.
  • Clove Powder – a pinch
  • Garam Masala Powder – ½ tsp.
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp.
  • Sugar – a pinch or two
  • Butter – as needed
  • Oil – 2 tbsp.
  • Salt – 1 ¼ tsp.

Step 1:     Wash and drain the pieces of chicken breast. Transfer to a pan and add ½ cup water. Add 1 tsp. salt, black pepper powder and the crushed garlic and cook till the breast is cooked and the water dries up (about 10 to 15 mins.). Then allow to cool.

Step 2:     Shred the chicken breasts as shown in the picture and keep aside.

Step 3:     Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the onion till translucent.

Step 4:     Add the green chillies and sauté for a minute. The add the turmeric, red chilly, clove and garam masala powders and cook for 30 seconds on low heat.

Step 5:     Add the shredded chicken, sugar, ¼ tsp. salt and 2 tbsp. of water, mix and cook covered for 2 minutes. Add the corriander and mix. Switch off the heat.

Step 6:     Apply butter to one side of your slices. Then spoon some of the chilly fry onto it. Cover with another slices of bread (buttered on one side or unbuttered). Press down on the slice lightly to compress a bit. Then cut diagonally to form two triangles. Serve with tomato ketchup (for a Homemade Tomato Ketchup, click here)
