The Goan Jeerem Meerem Powder is a type of garam masala powder. It is very versatile and can be used with meats, eggs or vegetables. My method below is a short cut with masala powders and should be made in small quantities as and when you need it.

Yield – 5 tbsp.

Ingredients:

  • Cumin Seed Powder – 2 tbsp.
  • Black Pepper Powder – 1 ½ tbsp.
  • Turmeric Powder – 1 tbsp.
  • Cinnamon Powder – ¼ tsp.
  • Clove Powder – ¼ tsp.
  • Red Chilly Powder (don’t use Kashmiri) – ½ tsp.

Mix all the powder and pass them through a sieve two to three times. Transfer to an airtight container.

  • Tried the Beef Jeerem Meerem, came very good.
I did not marinate the beef but I pressure cooked it first and then fried the powder masala with onions and tomatoes.
