Baby squids are preferred for this recipe as they cook quickly and are tender. The recipe is super easy to make and makes use of just a single spice. The resultant dish is delicious and retains all the flavours of the squid. The squid salt n pepper is the perfect seafood starter.

Prep. Time: 20 Mins.

Cooking Time: 4 Mins.

Ingredients:

  • Squids (small – about 5 to 6 cm long) – 10 to 12
  • Black Pepper Corns (coarsely ground) – ½ tsp. or to taste
  • Green Corriander – 1 tbsp.
  • Sea Salt – ¼ tsp. or to taste
  • Butter – 1 tbsp.
  • Oil – ½ tbsp.

Step 1:     Clean the squids. Clean the tubes thoroughly and drain well.

Step 2:     Slit each squid tube open along one side with a sharp knife and flatten on the chopping board. Score shallow slits on the inside of each squid as shown in the pictures.

Step 3:     Crush the salt using a mortar and pestle. Season the squids with the crushed salt and leave aside for 10 minutes.

Step 4:     Take a non-stick pan and place it on medium heat. Once hot add the butter and oil. Let the butter melt and once it starts foaming place the squids on the pan. The squids will roll up. Cook them for 2 minutes till tender. Season with the pepper and give a quick stir and then switch off the heat. Sprinkle the green corriander over them. The squids are ready to serve.
