Add the rawa toast to your breakfast menu or serve it as a late afternoon snack. You can salvage bread slices that are a day or two old (but not spoiled) from going to the waste bin. You can use fresh bread too. Serve with a dip of your choice.

Serves: 2 Persons

Prep. Time: 15 Mins.

Cooking Time: 10 Mins.

Ingredients:

[Standard Measure – 200 ml = 1 cup]

  • Rawa – ½ cup
  • Curd – ¼ cup
  • Malai / Milk Cream – ¼ cup
  • Onion (finely chopped) – 2 small
  • Tomato (finely chopped) – 1 small
  • Green Capsicum (finely chopped) – 1 small
  • Green Chillies (finely chopped) – 1 or 2
  • Green Corriander (finely chopped) – 1 tbsp.
  • Bread Slices – 4
  • Black Pepper (coarsely ground) – ½ tsp.
  • Oil – as needed
  • Salt – ½ tsp. or to taste

Step 1:     Whisk the dahi and malai along with ½ cup water, pepper and salt for a minute. Add the rawa, onion, tomato, green chillies, corriander and capsicum and mix to form a batter. Keep aside for 5 minutes.

Step 2:     Place a frying pan on low heat and coat with a tbsp. of oil. Take a slice of bread and spread some of the rawa mixture on one side of the bread. Place the bread on the pan, rawa coated side down. Spread some more mixture on the other side. Repeat for another slice.

Step 3:     Fry on low heat for a minute and half till light golden and then sprinkle a tsp. of oil on the top side before flipping it over to cook for another minute and half. Do the same for the next batch of 2 slices.

Note:

  • Add a small grated carrot to add volume and increase nutritional value.
  • Skip/decrease/increase the green chillies as per the liking of your loved ones.
