This is a quick and easy way to prepare fried slices of fish. The fish thus prepared is mildly spicy and tangy. Try the kingfish tamarind masala rawa fried the next time you get hold of some fresh slices of kingfish.

Prep. Time: 20 Mins. + 30 Mins. (marination)
Cooking Time: 12 to 15 Mins.
Ingredients:
- King Fish Steaks – 4 slices (400 to 500 gms.)
- For the Masala / Marinade:
- Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1 tsp.
- Tamarind – 1 medium lime sized ball
- Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder – 2 tsp.
- Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp.
- Lime – ½ small
- Rawa [Semolina] – 50 gms. or as needed
- Rice Flour – 1 tbsp.
- Oil – 2 tbsp.
- Salt – 1 tsp. or to taste
Step 1: Soak the tamarind in ¼ cup warm water for 15 minutes. Mash and strain to get a thick pulp.
Step 2: Meanwhile wash the kingfish slices / steaks. Drain well and apply salt and lime juice and leave aside for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Next mix the ginger-garlic paste, tamarind pulp, red chilly powder and turmeric powder. Take this mixture and smear the kingfish slices with it. Leave to marinate for 30 to 40 minutes.
Step 4: After you have marinated the fish, take the rawa in a flat plate and coat each slice of the fish with the rawa. Leave aside for 5 minutes.
Step 5: Heat 2 tbsp. oil in a pan suitable to fry the fish and fry the fish slices on medium heat, two at a time till the outer coating is crisp (3 to 4 minutes on each side). When the fish is fried, remove from the pan and place on a plate lined with absorbent kitchen paper.
