A lovely dessert for all occasions, the fruit custard is loved by all. Bowls filled with custard will disappear even before your other party food does. Follow this recipe for the perfect custard every time.
Serves: 6 to 8 Persons
Prep. Time: 15 Mins.
Cooking Time: 25 to 30 Mins.
Custard:
- Full Fat Milk – 1 litre + 150 ml
- Sugar – 8 to 10 tbsp.
- Custard Powder (vanilla) – 4 tbsp.
- Condensed Milk – 4 tbsp.
- Cashew Nuts (chopped) – ¼ cup
Fruits:
- Apples (peeled and finely chopped) – 2 small
- Bananas [elaichi/yellaki] (finely chopped) – 2
- Mixed Fruit [canned/tinned] (finely chopped) – 1 cup
Step 1: Mix the custard powder in 150 ml. milk at room temperature and keep aside.
Step 2: Bring 1 litre milk to a boil in a heavy bottom pan. Reduce the heat and continue boiling for 2 minutes.
Step 3: Add the sugar, condensed milk and the cashew nuts and let it simmer on low heat for approximately 5 minutes.
Step 4: Add the custard mixed milk and keep stirring on low heat till it starts to thicken. Keep stirring so that no lumps are formed for 6 to 8 minutes (once cooked it will coat the back of a spoon). Take off the heat and allow it to cool completely.
Step 5: Refrigerate the custard for 2 to 3 hours and then add the chopped fruits to it and mix. Cool it further for at least 2 or more hours before serving.
