Serves: 4 to 6 persons

Ingredients:

  • Basmati Rice – 500 gms.
  • Water – 12 cups
  • Green Cardamom – 3
  • Cloves – 6
  • Cinnamon – 1 ½
  • Shahi Jeera – ½ tsp. (optional)
  • Mace – 3 to 4 blades
  • Oil – 1 tsp.
  • Salt – 3 tsp.

Step 1:     Wash and soak the rice for 20 minutes.

Step 2:     Fill the pot with the water and add salt, oil, and all the spices and bring it to a boil. Add the drained rice and cook for 5 to 6 minutes till it is half done. Drain the rice immediately, spread on a large plate and allow to cool. Remove the mace from the rice and keep aside.

Use this rice in biryanis.
